High School Senior Portraits

What do you want your senior portrait experience to be? Each detail should be just as carefully chosen as my frames and shutter clicks when the time comes to capture the essence of this absolutely fabulous human being who is in the spotlight at the moment!

Daniel went to Shell Beach hundreds of times and spent hours picking up small rocks and shells, and wandering the tide pools, spotting star fish or tiny octopi, and not hearing the “arr arr” of the harbor seals on the rocks 50 feet away. Some days, the pelicans floated overhead so often you could almost call it shade. It was here that we experimented with night photography time exposures, painting the rocks off shore with flashlights, and stepped in puddles we couldn’t see in the dark – and found out DRYMAX socks really work! And as he got older, the rocks he’d pick up and carry home got bigger, as his fascination with and collection of rocks grew. In the years ahead, when he looks at his senior portrait images that were taken here, he’ll be reminded of all these experiences that were connected with the backdrop element that was chosen.

To insure that we create an outcome that meets and exceeds your expectations, we have you spend time thinking about all the things you love, the ways you express yourself, and the people in your life. We talk about these things in an actual face to face interview, because this is your time to shine. Your senior year of high school is one of the most significant, important, and memorable times in your life. The senior portrait is our way of honoring this moment on the time line of your life; the accumulation of all of your experiences so far!

At Essence Captured, we celebrate this time with you by going beyond normal photography services (sit down, tilt your head to the left, okay… smile – click – great! We got it!) in order to spend the time necessary to draw out the light.

If you hadn’t noticed, everyone around you has been talking to you about what you want to study in college, what you think you want to “be” and where you want to go to school, or what else you might want to do after high school. There’s more emphasis on this than ever before. If your head’s not pounding or spinning from the stress of trying to find the answer to all this, I would be surprised.

So we do two things with our events and celebrations. We talk about those things too, but not in the same way. We talk about you. We talk about the light you bring to the world. We talk about what you love to do and what makes you happy. And in all that talking, the essence of what makes you YOU shines through and THAT is what we capture.

When you look back on our portrait photo-biography experience, no matter if it’s the next day or 29 years later, you’ll see the essence of who you are, preserved and honored. Not what you wanted to be, or what you thought you’d be or do… but the essence of you at this moment.
